Rock Brand: Wilmington Blue Rocks refresh logos

The Wilmington Blue Rocks, High A affiliate of the Washington Nationals in the South Atlantic League, unveiled refreshed branding that highlights the rock in Blue Rocks. The team’s nickname, adopted in 1993, derives from large chunks of blue-ish granite found in Delaware’s Christina River.

The refreshed logos feature granite-themed text that the team first introduced in it Copa de la Diversion brand, Rocas Azules, with the O of Rocks incorporating an outline of the state of Delaware. For the first time, the team’s primary brand includes green that had previously only been used in its alternate Mr. Celery identity.

New secondary logos feature the team’s familiar moose character, Rocky Bluewinkle, developed by Brandiose in 2010, slightly tweaked to incorporate a pickaxe instead of the team’s BR logo on his cap, as well as an updated version of Mr. Celery’s pickaxe.

The Blue Rocks will take to the field in their new look when the South Atlantic League’s season begins April 3.
