Adidas Releases New Jerseys for National Teams Competing in Copa América

With the 2024 Copa América on the horizon this summer, Adidas has rolled out new jerseys for six national teams that will be competing in the tournament.

The next edition of the tournament on June 20, 2024, with games taking place at stadiums across the United States. It will consist of 16 teams, including all 10 members of CONMEBOL, the governing body for soccer in South America, plus six special guests from CONCACAF, the North American soccer federation (two of which are still to be determined through play-in rounds).

Adidas will outfit at least six of those teams: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela. They may also have a seventh team in the tournament if Costa Rica qualifies through the play-in rounds.

For this cycle of international jerseys, Adidas has introduced a new template, the main feature of which are tapering swoops that extend up from the bottom of the jersey to about midway up the sides. Other tapering panels appear on both the front and back of the shoulders. Swoops on the shorts are designed to flow between the two pieces of equipment.

Here are the jerseys unveiled recently that those teams will be wearing both during the Copa América and in the run-up to it:

🇦🇷 ARGENTINA 🇦🇷

The reigning World Cup champions get a new jersey to break out their gold championship patch in the middle of the chest. The home look eliminates black and features a full gold national team crest. The royal blue away kit brings in the Albicelestes’ signature light blue and white stripes from the home kit and places them in the side swoops.

Adidas also gave us a good look at their new name and number font for this kit cycle with their offering of Argentina kits with Lionel Messi’s number 10:

🇨🇱 CHILE 🇨🇱

Chile are shooting for the stars in their new home kit. The front of the kit features a halftone gradient pattern made up of diamonds that forms a large star in the negative space on the chest, playing off the national team crest and the Chilean flag. The away kit is quite a bit plainer, with red accents on a solid white base.

🇨🇴 COLOMBIA 🇨🇴

Colombia is going with a paler yellow than they normally wear for their new home kit. The side swoops start with an orange-red color near the bottom and fade to yellow at the top. The away kit is black with a tonal pattern all over and orange accents, including a one-color version of their national team crest.

🇲🇽 MEXICO 🇲🇽

It being a non-World Cup kit cycle, Mexico is going way out to left field for their new kits. Their traditional green home kits are out the window in favor of a predominantly red kit that is covered in feather-like pattern with green dots. The away kit has a light green base with a tonal pattern of traditional geometric shapes.

🇵🇪 PERU 🇵🇪

Peru is sticking with their traditional white base and red sash for their new home kit, but adding red side swoops and gold accents. The away kit is mostly black and has a dark purplish-red and black tiger stripe pattern on the sleeves and side swoops.

🇻🇪 VENEZUELA 🇻🇪

Venezuela’s new jerseys are the only ones Adidas released in recent weeks that doesn’t use the new template. The home kit is solid maroon with gold accents like the collar, side panels, side/hem taping and shoulder stripes. The away kit is mostly white with blue and yellow halftone gradient shapes across the chest.
