Arizona Wildcats To Unveil New Gradient-Less Basketball Uniforms

The Arizona men’s basketball program announced this week it will be getting new uniforms ahead of the 2022-23 season.

It’s unclear what the uniforms will look like, only that the gradient pattern the Wildcats have worn on the shoulders and bottom of the shorts since the 2016-17 will be gone.

Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd teased the changes during media day last September, noting the Wildcats were already in the process of an update before he took over for Sean Miller, who was fired after 12 seasons with the program.

“We’re going to probably do one more year with what they’ve been wearing, and then next year, I think you’re going to see some significant changes to the uniform,” Lloyd said

As mentioned, the gradient uniforms were introduced in 2016-17 and were supposed to mimic the desert sunset or sunrise.

They were appropriately named, including Dawn (white with gray gradients and red letters and numbers), Desert Fog (white with gray gradients and blue letters and numbers), Sunset (red with blue gradients, letters and numbers) and Twilight (blue with red gradients, letters and numbers).

The gray gradients were removed from the Dawn uniforms ahead of the 2018-19 season, however.

The football team also had a similar look from 2013-17 and finally returned to a retro look last season. Perhaps the basketball team will follow suit with its new update.
