CFL, Hamilton Tiger-Cats Unveil Logo for 110th Grey Cup

The biggest game on the Canadian football calendar will have a new look this year.

The Canadian Football League and the host Hamilton Tiger-Cats unveiled the logo for the 110th Grey Cup this week, breaking away from the template used for the past six edition of the CFL championship game.

The new logo features a rendering of the Grey Cup trophy towering over several buildings against a yellow background. The words “GREY CUP” are written overtop in a futuristic font and with a metallic effect. The league logo is placed over the bowl of the trophy, while “HAMILTON 110” is written near the bottom of the logo. Thin yellow stripes also appear near the bottom on either side of the city and edition.

Tiffiny Lai, the CFL’s senior manager of brand and design, posted on LinkedIn that the idea to redesign the Grey Cup logo was first pitched last year. “Our team is consistently analyzing brand insights to elevate and positively shift brand perceptions league wide as we strive to better engage fans. Our inspiration remains the same: competitive, passionate, and action-packed on-field product,” she wrote.

The 110th Grey Cup will be played at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario, on November 19, 2023. This will be the 11th time Hamilton has hosted the Grey Cup, with the most recent previous time being in 2021.
