Cincinnati Bengals to Introduce New White Helmet for 2022

The AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals will adopt a white version of their widely-recognizable tiger-striped helmet for the 2022 season. The team teased the news courtesy of a video uploaded to their social media channels on Thursday morning.

“For over 50 years, Bengal tigers have roamed the Cincinnati jungle, renowned around the world for their unique stripes and ferocious play,” read the narrator of the teaser video, “but recently, photo crews captured rare footage of a new and exotic Bengal species spotted right here in the jungle.”

Cincinnati first wore a black-and-white version of their uniforms during the 2016 season. Introduced as part of the NFL’s ColorRush promotion, the Bengals wore the mostly orange-free set for the first time during a Week 4 victory at home against the, oddly enough, only orange Miami Dolphins.

When you’re wearing a helmet like that it’s one of those situations you either got to put up or shut up.

While the Bengals haven’t come out and said there would be a white helmet, the video included Collinsworth’s above quote about their helmets. Also, it included a teaser graphic which clearly reveals a white helmet with black stripes when you play with the settings a little in Photoshop. Book it. White helmets are coming.

Cincinnati’s teaser comes just two days after the Houston Texans announced they’d be wearing a red helmet for one game in 2022 and follows similar announcements from the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, and Philadelphia Eagles, among others.
