Looking to avenge their loss earlier this season, the Washington Commanders will break out a new uniform combination for tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles (8:15 p.m. on ESPN).
The Eagles will actually be wearing the same thing they wore in a 24-8 win over the Commanders on Sept. 25, with midnight green helmets and jerseys with white pants and socks.
Washington, meanwhile, has opted to wear its burgundy helmet and white jerseys with white pants and burgundy socks this evening after wearing burgundy pants and white socks in their previous matchup.
This marks the second time this season the Commanders have paired their white jerseys with white pants, but the first time with burgundy socks. They previously wore white socks with this look in a 12-7 win over the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football on Oct. 13.
That said, Washington has worn white jerseys in five of its nine games this season, splitting their burgundy jersey and all-black alternate uniforms for the other four games so far. As mentioned, they are 1-0 in white jerseys with white pants and 2-2 in white jerseys with burgundy pants.
The Eagles, meanwhile, are 5-0 in midnight green helmets and jerseys with white pants this season, including 3-0 with all-white socks. Of course, they’re looking to improve to 9-0 overall this season with a win tonight.
Philadelphia has traditionally worn half-black and half-white socks, and is 2-0 when doing so this season. However, the Eagles appear to be transitioning to a solid-color sock look, which first appeared in a Color Rush game against the Carolina Panthers in 2017 and has been their primary road look ever since.
