The Arizona Coyotes have released the image of their special throwback uniform, which as previously announced, will be worn on March 5, 2015 against the Vancouver Canucks.
Aside from now being worn on the Reebok Edge jersey, the uniform is a clone of the one the Coyotes wore during their first season after relocating from Winnipeg in 1996-97. They’ll even bring back the old name, “Phoenix Coyotes” on the shoulder patch.
As you can see from the rendering above the most notable difference is the addition of the NHL shield in the collar, a standard feature on NHL jerseys since 2007.
The Coyotes originally wore these uniforms from the 1996-97 season through 2002-03, they switched to their current colour scheme of brick, black, sand, and white in 2003-04 making only minor changes to the uniform design in the 12 years since.
We’re throwing it back to our original jersey on March 5th vs. Vancouver! Bonus: @Jeremy_Roenick will drop the puck. pic.twitter.com/8cwilkqgEu
