Confirming our report from last month, the Denver Broncos announced on Monday evening they’ll soon unveil a new alternate helmet that will be worn in as many as two games this season.
Denver did not share any details regarding the design of the alternate helmet, though the graphic the team posted to social media suggests it could be a white helmet with a white facemask.
The only thing for certain is the helmet must be worn with the Broncos’ all-orange Color Rush uniform, which was previously paired with their standard navy blue helmet and throwback decals in the franchise’s current colors.
Denver has only worn brown (1960-61), orange (1962-66), academy blue (1967-78), royal blue (1979-96) or navy blue (1997-present) helmets throughout its 63-year history,
Team president Damani Leech hinted during last week’s NFL owners meetings that Denver could wear an alternate helmet this season, telling reporters, “That’s something we’re definitely exploring.”
The Broncos now become the second NFL team to announce their intentions to wear a new alternate helmet this season, joining the Detroit Lions. Our sources have indicated the Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts will soon follow suit.
Additionally, the Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans are set to wear familiar throwback uniforms in 2023.
