Here Are All the New Under Armour Jerseys We Saw in the Canadian Hockey League Preseason

It’s late summer in Canada, which means cities and towns all across the country (and into the United States) are gearing up for their respective major junior hockey seasons to begin. Teams from across the Canadian Hockey League — comprised of the Ontario Hockey League, the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League and the Western Hockey League — have been busy with preseason games, media days and community events.

These preparations have also given us the first looks at most team’s new Under Armour jerseys. In May 2025, the CHL announced it had signed a five-year deal with UA to become the new jersey supplier to all 61 teams in three leagues, replacing CCM.

The most noticeable difference between the UA and CCM jerseys is a panel on the back collar of the UA jerseys that, on the vast majority of teams who wore them in the preseason, are a contrasting colour from the rest of the shoulders. It’s a feature that’s garnered mixed reaction on social media so far. Some teams — weirdly, all from the WHL, it would seem — have panels that blend in with the rest of their jersey.

Other than the back collar panels, there aren’t many surprises when it comes to the UA jersey designs. Almost all teams kept their jersey designs from 2024-25, though a couple added sublimated logos on their forearms.

Regular seasons begin on Thursday, September 18, for the OHL and QMJHL, and on Friday, September 19, for the WHL. It’ll be interesting to see what teams are wearing when opening night rolls around, as some are experiencing delays in receiving their UA jerseys.

Is your favourite CHL team affected by the UA back collar panel? Here’s a rundown of photos we could find on teams’ social media accounts and other sources over the past couple of weeks (apologies for the lack of photo credits):

Under Armour Jerseys – With Contrasting Back Collar Panels

  • One of the biggest surprises in the UA launch is a reworking of the Ottawa 67s‘ (OHL) white jersey sleeves. They’ve gone full barberpole on their sleeves, moving their sleeve numbers up to the shoulders. Previously, they had barberpole stripes between two black stripes that ran down the length of their sleeves.

Under Armour Jerseys – Without Contrasting Back Collar Panels

  • The Calgary Hitmen and Wenatchee Wild (WHL) appear to be the only teams to add a pattern of sublimated logos to the forearms of their jerseys. For the Hitmen, it’s their alternate mask logo, while the Wild have used a secondary logo of interlocking Ws.
  • The Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL) wore a mix of CCM and Under Armour jerseys throughout the preseason, but the UA jerseys didn’t appear to have the contrasting back collar panel.

Teams That Didn’t Wear Under Armour Jerseys in the Preseason

  • The Brantford Bulldogs (OHL) wore grey retro jerseys with “BFD” in black diagonally across the front. They wore these jerseys for theme nights last season.
  • Erie Otters (OHL) players wore Under Armour jerseys in media day photos posted to social media, but those didn’t show the back.
  • The Kingston Frontenacs (OHL) wore black practice jerseys throughout the preseason, as they are one of four teams affected by an “issue with quality control” around UA’s metallic fabrics.
  • The Baie-Comeau Drakkar (QMJHL) wore CCM jerseys throughout the season, but an Under Armour jersey was featured in a social media video announcing their new captain. That video didn’t show the back of the jersey, however.
  • The Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL) unveiled new logos and jerseys earlier this summer, but wore their 2024-25 CCM jerseys during the preseason.
  • The Vancouver Giants (WHL) dug a Gordie Howe tribute jersey out of their closet and wore it throughout their preseason.

Who looked the best in the CHL preseason? Who looks the worst? Are there any UA jerseys that we missed or have been spotted in the meantime? Let us know in the comments!
