Juve Get a Little Crazy, Spurs Get a Lot Crazy with Away Kits – Plus Other 2021-22 Releases From Around Europe

Away kits dominated European club football unveilings over the past day or so, with Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and FC Union Berlin all getting on the act. Let’s take a closer look …

JUVENTUS – Away

The new away kit for Italian Serie A giants Juventus starts simple enough, with a black base, but then it gets a little wild. The front of the shirt and the sleeves are covered with a partial vertical pinstripes, and each pinstripe contains a colour gradient. The adidas stripes also fade from orange to pink as they run from the collar to the shoulder seam. The crew neck collar and sleeve cuffs are solid black, while the adidas logo and club crest are white.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR – Away

Whereas Juventus went a little wild, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur went a lot wild for their 2021-22 away kit made by Nike. The shirt features a colourful, swirling graphic all over the front and sleeves; the club calls it “an expressive print that represents collective creativity from local minds.” Logos and the club crest are “venom green” while the sleeve cuffs and side stripes are solid black. The crew neck collar is black in the front and purple in back.

Footy Headlines notes that authentic versions of the jersey have a solid black block on the back for names and numbers, while replica versions are being sold without the black block.

WEST HAM UNITED – Away

Premier League side West Ham United are inspired by past success for their 2021-22 away kit, made by Umbro. The front of the shirt features white and sky blue vertical stripes, with diagonal tonal lines inside the blue stripes. This is a nod to the away kit West Ham wore in 1992-93, when they won promotion back into the Premier League, kicking off a successful run of 10 straight seasons in England’s top flight.

The sleeves and back are solid sky blue. The grandad collar is claret, as are stripes on the sleeves and the Umbro logo. A monochromatic claret version of the club crest appears on the left chest.

WATFORD FC – Home

Watford return to the Premier League in style in 2021-22 with home kits manufactured by Kelme. The shirt is yellow with black hoops that fade to yellow as they go upward. The V-neck collar is black with yellow trim, and has a black triangular insert at the base. Watford’s new main shirt sponsor is Stake.com, a crypto casino and sports betting platform.

UNION BERLIN – Away

Over in Germany, Bundesliga side Union Berlin unveiled a new away kit for 2021-22 this week. The front and sleeves feature a tonal grey pattern that takes inspiration from the club’s early days and its nickname, “Die Eisernen” (“The Iron Ones”). The back of the jersey is solid dark grey and, near the collar, features the letters “UNVEU,” which stand for “Und niemals vergessen — Eisern Union” (“And never forget — Iron Union”). The V-neck collar and sleeve cuffs are black, while the adidas logo and shoulder stripes are silver. The club crest is rendered in silver and black.

LEVANTE UD – Home

Spanish La Liga side Levante UD are earning their stripes with their 2021-22 home kit, manufactured by Marcon. The kit features blue and red vertical stripes down the front. Between each stripe is a darker blue zigzag pattern, and all the stripes have embossed tonal pinstripes within them. An embossed tonal chevron is also visible on the chest. A red stripe runs down each blue sleeve, and the blue polo collar includes some red trim.

The kits unveiled Thursday did not include a sponsor. Levante was sponsored by Betway — the same company as West Ham United above — for at least the last two seasons.

While Levante’s home kit is full of bells and whistles, the away kit keeps things simple. It is all black, with red and blue trim on the polo collar and sleeve cuffs. The Macron logo appears in white.
