There haven’t been a lot of highlights for Kansas Jayhawks football over the years, but they managed to pull off one of the most clever-yet-wacky plays that you’ll see all season.
The Jayhawks were playing at home and wearing all-blue uniforms from head to toe, which matched up perfectly with the blue turf in their endzone. Kansas took advantage of this by having one of their kick returners lay down in the endzone in order to camouflage himself. One kick returner returned the ball a few yards, and then the camouflaged player got to his feet, caught a cross-field lateral, and gained extra yards. You can check out the play here, and you can look below at how the player covertly hid himself.
As it turns out, this isn’t the only time that this tactic has been employed on the gridiron, as SB Nation points out a few times in their coverage of the moment. Even though it only got the Jayhawks 35 yards, they gained a lot of ground in our hearts with this moment of chicanery.
