Kansas State Wildcats To Wear Wildfire Recovery Helmet Decal For TaxAct Texas Bowl

The Kansas State football program will wear a helmet decal against LSU in the TaxAct Texas Bowl in support of those impacted by the recent wildfires in Kansas.

Fueled by 100-plus mile per hour winds, the wildfires killed at least two people and burned more than 400,000 acres in the western and central portion of the state.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the many Kansans who were affected by the recent storms and wildfires,” athletic director Gene Taylor said in a statement. “This helmet sticker is a small department-wide gesture that will let all K-Staters and those effected by this storm know that we are with them as they rebuild their lives and their livelihoods.”

The purple decal is in the shape of the state and includes a white heart with Kansas State’s Powercat logo in the middle.

“It’s just a small thing for us to show our support for people throughout the state that have had such an impact of their lives so much,” head coach Chris Klieman said during his press conference earlier this week.

The TaxAct Texas Bowl will take place at NRG Stadium in Houston on Jan. 4, 2022. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
