Liverpool Away Kit Headlines Slew of 2021-22 European Club Soccer Jerseys

European club soccer kits for 2021-22 just keep on coming lately, with recent unveilings highlighted by the away jersey for a six-time European champion …

LIVERPOOL FC – Away

Perennial English Premier League contenders Liverpool FC and Nike have unveiled a new away kit for 2021-22 that is mainly a shade of off-white they’re calling “fossil” — the same shade was used for trim on their home kit, which was unveiled back in May. The side stripes and sleeve cuffs are in “dark atomic teal,” while the Nike logo and club crest are in “bright crimson,” another colour also used on the home kit. The polo collar is dark teal with white and bright crimson trim. The shirt will be worn with black shorts and off-white socks with teal and crimson trim.

FEYENOORD – Away & Third

The 2021-22 away kit for Dutch Eredivisie stalwarts Feyenoord takes their usual half-and-half home kits and puts a new spin on them. The away kits feature one half in solid grey and one half in a tonal grey heather pattern. This is accented with bright yellow trim, including on the collar, sleeve cuffs, sponsor logo, adidas logo and adidas stripes down the sides. The club crest is rendered in black and yellow.

Feyenoord have also released the “Full Support” kit, which follows the same template as the away kit, but swaps out grey for green. This kit will be worn for select matches in 2021-22, but will not be sold to the general public; it is exclusively for season ticket holders who waived compensation for their season tickets for last season, or “supporters who have already opted for a full support season ticket prior to this season.”

It’s mainly yellow, with a green halftone pattern running down the front. It also has a green V-neck collar with yellow trim, green sleeve cuffs, and narrow green panels under the arms and near the hem.

FC AUGSBURG – Home

Bundesliga side FC Augsburg and Nike are taking a page from the club’s history for their 2021-22 home kit. It features red and green stripes, similar to the shirts worn by the club in 1969, the first season after BC Augsburg and TSV Schwaben Augsburg merged to create what is now known as FC Augsburg. The crew neck collar is solid red. Both red and green shorts are options to go with these shirts, as well as red socks.

After unveiling their home kit last month for their first season back in the Bundesliga since 2012-13, SpVgg Greuther Fürth and Puma have unveiled the away kits to go along with them. They’re mainly black with green hoops, half of which are solid green and half which are composed of alternating black and green angled lines. The raglan sleeves are solid black, and the collar and sleeve cuffs are solid green.

MAINZ 05 – Third

Bundesliga side Mainz 05 are paying tribute to a piece of its city’s medieval history with its third kits for 2021-22, made by Kappa. In the mid-13th century, the city was known as “Golden Mainz,” becoming the centre of a league of powerful towns along the Rhine river. The kit is mainly black with angled grey quarters on the front. It is accented with gold in the collar insert, club crest, manufacturer logos and sponsor logo.

UNION BERLIN – Third

Bundesliga side FC Union Berlin are dedicating their third kit for 2021-22 to forests and green spaces in and around the city of Berlin. The kit is predominantly white, with a green V-neck collar, green sleeve cuffs, and green side panels running under each arm. The adidas logo, adidas shoulder stripes and sponsor logo also appear in green. “Union will be drawing a lot of attention to a very important issue with this unfamiliar colour combination for the club. … We are all the more delighted that Union is using its profile to make Berliners more aware of the importance of the forest for the capital,” Gunnar Heyne, head of Berlin’s Forestry, told the club’s website.
