NBA G-League: Texas Legends Announce New Logos

The Texas Legends, NBA G-League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks, announced on Tuesday that they were making a logo change heading into the 2018-19 season.

Previously the alternate logo, the new primary mark features a “TL” design in white with a navy blue drop shadow, a navy blue star also appears in between the letters. This design is placed on a royal blue basketball with silver seams and surrounded by the only new part of the logo – the team name in white in a navy blue circle. The previous primary logo will now be the alternate logo but with the wordmark removed from it.

The team says the six lines on the basketball represents “the six pillars of the Legends’ community outreach”: military empowerment, cancer research, fighting hunger, youth involvement, creating a brighter future, and international growth of the sport. While the circle around the logo (nope, not just a roundel to house the team name!) is for their “unity with the North Dallas area”. The “wings” on the “TL” are for the speed of the game and the speed of the growth in the region; the star for the Lone Star State.

“The new logo presents a cleaner, crisper, sleeker look,” said Malcolm Farmer, President and General Manager of the Legends in the press release. “In our area, this design seems to fit better with the growth and fast-paced environment but also serves as a better representation of our relationship with the community and the Mavericks.”
