Nevada Wolf Pack Unveil Two New Helmet Options For 2021 Season

The Nevada football program held its annual spring game on May 1, at which time head coach Jay Norvell revealed two new helmets that the Wolf Pack will wear during the 2021 season.

The options include a white helmet and a silver flake helmet, which is modeled after Notre Dame’s iconic gold lids.

“You guys may know that Notre Dame has a gold helmet,” head coach Jay Norvell said. “It’s a special gold. It’s a metallic flake gold. It’s the only helmet like that in college football. Nobody else wears it. Nobody else has worn this color helmet and we patented this silver, so nobody in college football is going to wear this helmet but Nevada.

“We are building a team with unique qualities. You guys are unique. This helmet is unique. Nobody else will wear this helmet but us, but the Wolf Pack. So carry yourself that way.”

Aside from the finish, the silver helmet isn’t any different than the one the program reintroduced prior to last season. It includes a navy blue “Pack” script on the left side and the player’s number on the right, as well as a navy blue stripe down the middle.

The Wolf Pack haven’t worn a white helmet since the 2013-15 seasons, meanwhile. The new design – which will be worn as an alternate alongside the program’s blue and new silver helmets – follows the same template but includes a white facemask.

Nevada opens its 2021 season Sept. 4 at Cal. Its home opener is Sept. 11 against Idaho State.
