New England Patriots To Wear “Pat Patriot” Throwback Uniforms On Thursday Night Football

The New England Patriots will wear their “Pat Patriot” throwback uniforms for the second time this season when they take on the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football (8:15 p.m. ET on Amazon Prime).

The uniforms, which include red jerseys with white helmets and pants, made their long-awaited return in a 29-0 win over the Detroit Lions on Oct. 9. It had been almost 10 years since they were last worn due to the NFL’s one-helmet rule.

Just like they did in October, the Patriots have painted their original logo at the 50-yard line for tonight’s game in Foxboro. They’ve also added vintage wordmarks to the end zones and placed throwback signage in and around Gillette Stadium.

New England is 7-0 at home when wearing throwback uniforms since 1993, when the franchise scrapped “Pat Patriot” for its current “Flying Elvis” logo. That includes a one-point victory over the Bills on Monday Night Football in 2009.

Buffalo, meanwhile, will counter with all-white uniforms this evening. The Bills are 2-0 this season in this combination, with wins over the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs back on Oct. 2 and 16, respectively.
