NFL Wildcard Sunday Uniform Matchups

The 2020 NFL Playoffs continue Sunday afternoon with the final three games from the wildcard round. Here we’re just giving you a preview of what the six teams will be wearing as they take the field and begin their conquest for a Super Bowl LV championship next month in Tampa Bay.

Displayed below in order of when the game is played:

TENNESSEE VS BALTIMORE

The Tennessee Titans are going with their head-to-toe navy blue option, a combo they wore four times during the 2020 regular season with a record of 3-1, one of those wins an OT victory over the Texans. As for Baltimore they’ll be wearing purple pants with their white jerseys, and there’s a good reason for that particular pairing — the Ravens have worn white over purple four times in 2020 and won every single time.

Baltimore played their last playoff game one year ago tomorrow against, you guessed it, the Titans, a home loss in the division round. Tennessee wound up meeting Kansas City in the AFC Championship game where they lost to the eventual Super Bowl LIV champs.

NEW ORLEANS VS CHICAGO

New Orleans will host the Chicago Bears in the late-afternoon game and will do so while wearing their black jersey/black pants pairing. The Saints have worn the all-black look seven times in 2020 for a record of 5-2. Chicago is going with their usual road look, a white jersey on navy blue pants. This combo (not including the throwback version) has been worn eight times this season, the Bears are 5-3 when wearing it.

Everyone was going on about the Bills playing their first home playoff game since 1996 yesterday, nobody seemed to notice this is the first Chicago Bears *road* playoff game since the 1994 season; a division round loss to the San Francisco 49ers on January 7, 1995.

PITTSBURGH VS CLEVELAND

Well here’s your clear uniform matchup of the day, but really, any matchup involving the Steelers and their black and golds is tough to top in my eyes. The Steelers wore this look eight times in 2020 to the tune of 7 wins and 1 loss, one of those victories against their opponents this afternoon the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland is breaking out the orange pants to the delight of many, the white top/orange pant combo was only worn once this year, a 37-34 victory over the Bengals in Cincinnati on October 25th.

Fun fact, if you can remember seeing a baby the day of the last Browns playoff game, that baby is now old enough to vote. This will be just the fourth Browns playoff game in the last 28 years, three of those games were against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
