North Carolina To Wear 1990s Throwback Uniforms Against Virginia

The North Carolina football program will wear its 1990s throwback uniforms for Saturday’s game against Virginia, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on ACC Network.

This will mark the third time the Tar Heels have worn these uniforms, which are a nod to head coach Mack Brown’s first stint with the program, as they made they debut in the thrilling come-from-behind win over Wake Forest last November and then returned for the Orange Bowl loss to Texas A&M.

The uniforms feature a Carolina blue jersey with a traditional striping pattern on the sleeves, a contrasting college and drop-shadow numbers. The sleeve stripes also include a “CAROLINA” wordmark in the center, as well as the program’s social justice patch on the right shoulder.

That striping pattern is then repeated on the white pants, which include the interlocking “NC” on the hip, and down the center of the Carolina blue helmet, replacing the argyle design use throughout the Tar Heels’ standard home and road uniforms.
