Pistons Add Ad, Detroit Jerseys to Feature Bank Logo

It was revealed today that the Detroit Pistons will be adding the logo of a bank to the front of all their jerseys for the upcoming 2017-18 season.

According to a Tweet (report?) from ESPN’s Darren Rovell, the Pistons will be wearing the logo of Flagstar Bank. Flagstar is headquartered in nearby Troy, Michigan and all of their physical branches are located entirely within the state of Michigan.

Like every other ad patch unveiled for the NBA thus far, the logo is small and unobtrusive, located in the top left corner, this is actually a rule for the patches implemented by the league. The Pistons join the Celtics (GE), Kings (BlueDiamond), 76ers (StubHub), Raptors (SunLife), Jazz (5 For the Fight), Cavaliers (Goodyear), Nets (Infor), and Magic (Disney) as teams to announce they will be wearing a similar patch on their in-game uniforms.

Cleveland omitted as they’ve yet to release an actual photo of the Goodyear patch

Jerseys featuring the advertisement will only be available for purchase at team-owned brick-and-mortars, the vast majority of Pistons jerseys for sale (like the rest of the teams) will be without the patch. Thus far these patch deals are reported to be worth between $4 – $8 million (Forbes) per year for the team.
