Premier League’s Crystal Palace Signs Sponsorship Deal with Car Site Cinch

English Premier League side Crystal Palace FC is hoping a new sponsorship deal with an online car retailer will drive success on and off the pitch.

The club announced on Thursday, May 26, that it has signed a multi-year deal with online car marketplace cinch to occupy the advertising space on the front of their jerseys starting with the 2022-23 season. The company’s logo will also appear on CPFC training gear and throughout Selhurst Park.

Cinch’s logo also appeared on the sleeves of Tottenham Hotspur’s jerseys this past Premier League season. The company is also the presenting sponsor of the Scottish Premiership; Rangers FC refused to wear a league sleeve patch with cinch’s logo during the 2021-22 season because of a perceived conflict with the club’s chairman, who owns several car dealerships himself.

Crystal Palace’s shirt sponsor during the 2021-22 was betting firm W88. It’s widely believed that the United Kingdom government will soon ban football clubs from signing front-of-shirt sponsorship deals with betting firms, so this may have been a pre-emptive move on Crystal Palace’s part.

“Cinch is a well-established, family-friendly and instantly recognizable brand across the UK and beyond, and this landmark partnership is yet another statement of progress at the club, both on and off the field,” said CPFC commercial director Barry Webber on the team’s website.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for our partnership to begin, as we enter our 10th successive season in the Premier League with a squad packed full of international talent, whilst cinch continues its impressive expansion and innovation in the car market. We look forward to helping each other secure our respective ambitions.”
