Purdue Boilermakers Unveil 2000 Throwback Uniforms

The Purdue football team will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its last Big Ten championship by wearing throwback uniforms during Saturday’s game against Northwestern (5 p.m. on BTN)

Led by quarterback Drew Brees, the Boilermakers finished the season at 8-4 overall (6-2 in the Big Ten) following a 34-24 Rose Bowl loss to Washington. Purdue shared the conference title with Michigan and Northwestern, but earned the trip to The Granddaddy of Them All thanks to head-to-head wins over the Wolverines and Wildcats earlier in the season.

The uniforms are petty close to being an exact replica of what the Boilermakers wore that season, when they were outfitted by Champion instead of Nike, though the train on the collar is the current logo and the Big Ten patch has been applied to the right shoulder. There is no train logo on the hip of the pants, either.

The Boilermakers have also updated to Nike’s Vapor Untouchable template after using the Mach Speed template on their standard home and road and gray alternate uniforms since 2016.

Purdue wore the road version of this throwback uniform during a 2010 win over Minnesota in celebration of the 10th anniversary of their Rose Bowl appearance. That uniform notably include a rose intertwined with the Motion “P” logo on the helmet and a Rose Bowl patch on the right shoulder.
