Purdue Boilermakers Unveil New Gold Jerseys For Homecoming

The Purdue football program announced on Friday night it will wear new gold jerseys during Saturday’s Homecoming game against Minnesota, which kicks off at 12 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network.

The Boilermakers introduced gold jerseys as their primary home look with the switch from Champion to Nike ahead of the 2002 season. They went 5-3 in the jerseys – which featured white numbers outlined in black and a black collar and cuffs – losing to Wake Forest, Michigan and Ohio State by a combined nine points.

Purdue updated the gold jersey in 2003 to include black numbers with a white outline and a new black and white collar and cuff design. The Boilermakers then lost the season opener to Bowling Green, 27-26, and the program hasn’t worn gold jerseys since.

This year’s gold jerseys follow the same template as Purdue’s gray alternate jersey, with a cowcatcher design on the shoulders and a contrasting shoulder yoke. It also includes black numbers outlined in gold.

The uniform is complete with Purdue’s black helmet featuring the train track stripe down the center and gold Motion “P” on both sides, as well as black pants.

That said, make sure to follow our friend Ted Huff of Boiler Uniforms, whose coverage of Purdue’s on-field aesthetic is unmatched.
