As first reported by Compare.bet’s Kyle Odegard and subsequently confirmed by SportsLogos.net, the Arizona Cardinals are expected to unveil new uniforms ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft, which takes place April 27-29.
The Cardinals have worn their current uniform design since 2005, their final season at Sun Devil Stadium. The look includes an updated primary logo on a plain white helmet with a gray facemask, as well as a custom number font and unique piping on the sleeves and down the side of the jersey and pants.
Arizona introduced a black alternate jersey in 2010 that follows the same template, as well as a second pair of white pants with black piping to match the jersey. That was followed by an all-black Color Rush uniform in 2017, which featured cardinal numbers and piping.
The black jersey and all-black Color Rush uniform were then paired with a new black alternate helmet for one game apiece last season, the first year that NFL teams were permitted to wear a second helmet. The helmet notably features cardinal flakes and a modified primary logo.
More than half of the NFL has undergone a significant uniform change since the Cardinals’ last rebrand, not counting the league-wide switch to Nike and subsequent template updates, the Color Rush program or the teams that introduced a second helmet last season.
Quarterback Kyle Murray previously said he doesn’t like Arizona’s current uniforms, calling them “outdated” in 2020. We subsequently held a contest to redesign the Cardinals’ look, which yielded several great submissions from our readers.
It’s unclear at this time what the uniforms will look like, though sources have indicated a white helmet will remain as the primary look. It’s also worth noting the franchise has been using an orangish-yellow color more prominently in recent weeks, including on their draft hats and social media graphics.
