Retro Uniforms for NHL Outdoors at Lake Tahoe 2021

The National Hockey League today announced two outdoor games for the abbreviated 2020-21 season, both to be held at Lake Tahoe along the Nevada/California border.

This will mark the 32nd and 33rd time the league has gone outdoors for a regular season game, the league has held an outdoor game regularly since the 2008 Winter Classic in Buffalo, N.Y. However, the first game outdoors was held four seasons prior in Edmonton when the Oilers hosted the Montreal Canadiens at the Heritage Classic in the fall of 2003.

Game one will be played on February 20th between the Colorado Avalanche and the Vegas Golden Knights, the first trip outdoors for Vegas. Both teams will wear their freshly released Reverse Retro uniforms for the game. So, bonus, we get the Nordiques uniforms here.

Game two will be the very next day, Sunday, February 21st, with the Philadelphia Flyers taking on the Boston Bruins. Like the Avs/Knights game, both teams will wear their Reverse Retro jerseys.

Details on the setting from the NHL:

The rink for NHL Outdoors at Lake Tahoe™ will be located on the lakefront 18th fairway of the golf course at the Edgewood Tahoe Resort, the annual site of the American Century Championship since 1990, and host of the 1985 U.S. Senior Open and 1980 U.S. Amateur Public Links. Set along the scenic Lake Tahoe shoreline, Edgewood Tahoe Resort is a 235-acre, LEED-certified luxe mountain haven overlooking the iconic Sierra Nevada.

The logo for the game features the silhouette of two players skating on a frozen pond with a mountain peak behind them. It’s been added to the site here.
