San Francisco 49ers’ 1994 Throwback Uniform Leaked On eBay

Just like they have for the last three seasons, the San Francisco 49ers will once again wear 1994 throwback uniforms this fall. But rather than the all-white road look we’ve become accustomed to, it appears they’ll don the home version instead.

The throwback jersey briefly appeared on eBay via user “originaljersey81,” the same person whose listings included the Cincinnati Bengals’ new jerseys and the Cleveland Browns’ 1946 throwback jersey. They’ve since been removed, but sources have indicated that all three are legitimate, but simply lower-tier retail replicas of yet-to-be-unveiled uniforms.

When it comes to the 49ers, the throwback uniforms were originally worn in 1994 as part of the NFL’s league-wide celebration of its 75th season. They were based on what the franchise looked like in 1955 and ended up being somewhat of a good luck charm as San Francisco wore them throughout the playoffs on the way to a victory over the then-San Diego Chargers in Super Bowl XXIX.

The scarlet jerseys feature white numbers with a black drop shadow, as well as three white stripes on both sleeves. It will presumably be work with gold helmets that include the throwback oval decal on both sides and the Saloon font wordmark on the front bumper, as well as white pants with a black and red stripe down the sides.
