Retro is in again in Saskatchewan, where the Canadian Football League’s Saskatchewan Roughriders will once again break out their 1970s-era alternate uniforms for their traditional Labour Day Classic matchup against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The Roughriders confirmed they would wear the alternates Friday on Twitter.
The uniform includes a green jersey with two white stripes running over each shoulder, white pants with two green stripes down each side, and green socks. The helmet is green with two white stripes down the middle, a white facemask, and the logo the team wore from 1966 to 1984 on each side.
The Roughriders have been wearing their 1970s-era throwback uniforms since 2007, according to Last Word on Sports. In recent seasons, the team has typically broken them out for the first time on Labour Day, then worn them several more times before the end of the season. They have also paired the green jersey with green pants in the past.
The Roughriders host the Blue Bombers in the 56th edition of the Labour Day Classic on Sunday, Sept. 4, at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Sask. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. Eastern time.
