Sporting Kansas City Upgrades Sleeve Sponsor to Front of Shirt for 2022 MLS Season

Mining company Compass Minerals is movin’ on up on Major League Soccer team Sporting Kansas City’s jersey, with their logo going from the sleeve to the front of the shirt for the 2022 season.

Compass Minerals was the club’s first-ever sleeve sponsor starting in 2020. The new sponsorship deal, announced Thursday, runs until 2028, and Compass Minerals even unveiled a new logo to go along with the announcement.

Crutchfield, Compass Minerals’ president and CEO, told SportingKC.com. “We are excited for our company and our employees to grow our partnership with a first-class organization like Sporting KC and together advance our shared goal to make a positive impact in the KC region.”

The Compass Minerals logo replaces the logo of the Victory Project on the front of Sporting KC’s shirts. The Victory Project is the club’s in-house charity “dedicated to helping children through all of life’s challenges.”

According to Thursday’s announcement, Compass Minerals is “is headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, with production and packaging facilities in four countries. The company’s first mine began operation in 1844 and today, Compass Minerals is the leading salt producer in North America and the United Kingdom, the leading producer of sulfate of potash in the Western Hemisphere, as well as the United States’ only producer of magnesium chloride.”

Also on Thursday, defending MLS champions New York City FC announced a sleeve sponsorship deal with men’s hygiene brand Dude Wipes. Dude Wipes is one of the most successful companies ever to appear on the reality show Shark Tank.

“We are thrilled to welcome DUDE Wipes as our new sleeve partner of New York City Football Club as we look to once again clean up on the pitch following last season’s Championship run,” said NYCFC chief commercial officer and COO Matt Goodman.
