Texas A&M athletic director Ross Bjork and senior quarterback Kellen Mond hinted at new uniforms during a back and forth on social media this spring, so it should come as no surprise the Aggies unveiled a new but familiar look for the upcoming season on Wednesday morning.
The new uniforms are very much a reversal of the changes made when Texas A&M moved from the Big XII to the SEC in 2012, as the Aggies ditched their satin maroon helmet with a gray facemask for a glossy maroon helmet with a white facemask.
The jerseys no longer feature a pair of stripes on the shoulders and television numbers have been added to the sleeves in their place. The numbers, which were previously beveled, now feature subtle barbwire notches, while the Texas A&M wordmark on the chest has been enlarged.
The Aggies will wear stripeless white pants at home and maroon pants at home, both of which feature the Lone Star State secondary logo on the right hip. The look is then complete with black cleats and socks.
While other conferences have postponed fall sports, Texas A&M is scheduled to open its 10-game SEC schedule on Sept. 26 against a to-be-determined opponent. The Aggies are set to play Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt at home and Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Tennessee on the road.
