Texas Tech Red Raiders Unveil New Uniforms

While in the midst of ending its partnership with other high-profile universities, Under Armour recently extended its deal with Texas Tech through the 2023-24 school year. Thus, the Red Raiders football program revealed new uniforms on Saturday afternoon.

This marks the first significant uniform update for Texas Tech since the 2013 season, though the new set maintains the same wordmark on the chest and number font that has been used by the program since 2017.

The Red Raiders have notably updated to Under Armour’s latest ArmourGrid template, which Auburn, Cincinnati, Northwestern, Notre Dame and Wisconsin debuted last season, and moved their striping pattern from the collarbone area to the sleeves. This, plus the addition of Texas Tech’s primary logo, creates a cleaner look overall.

The pants stripe has been widened and the colors flipped, while the phrase “Guns Up” has been removed from the left leg. But otherwise, the new look is more or less an evolution of the Red Raiders’ look from the last seven seasons.

It’s unclear when Texas Tech’s new uniforms will make their on-field debut, as the coronavirus outbreak has forced some conferences to move to a conference-only schedule this fall. The Big XII has refrained from making such a decision to this point, so there’s still a chance the Red Raiders open the 2020 season at UTEP on Sept. 5.
