Texas Tech Red Raiders Unveil Patrick Mahomes-Branded “GalvanICED” Alternate Football Uniforms

The Texas Tech Red Raiders will wear Patrick Mahomes-branded alternate football uniforms for the second straight season, as they’ll debut their new “GalvanICED” design against BYU on Nov. 8.

The all-white uniforms are effectively the road version of last year’s “Galvanized” design, worn in a loss to Colorado, which was dark gray with a metallic gray “Tech” wordmark outlined in red across the chest, as well as matching numbers and stripes on the sleeves.

The striping pattern and the Double “T” logos on the sides of the dark gray helmet and pants also feature a galvanized finish as a nod to the beveling in Texas Tech’s primary mark. The look was complete with Mahomes’ “Gladiator” logo on the left shoulder and hip.

The “GalvanICED” uniform keeps every detail the same, swapping the dark gray base on the helmets, jerseys and pants, though they’ve added a small script “Red Raiders” wordmark in the bottom stripe on the left sleeve this year.

Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl champion and two-time NFL MVP, played for the Red Raiders from 2014-16 before being selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He also had his logo on their standard road design in a win at Oklahoma State last November, as well as an alternate baseball uniform this spring.

A dual-sport athlete in college, Mahomes appeared in three games as a pinch hitter and relief pitcher for the Red Raiders’ baseball team during his freshman year, going 0-for-2 with one strikeout and allowing three earned runs after walking two batters and hitting another before giving way to a different reliever.

That said, this marks the second addition to Texas Tech’s wardrobe this season, as the Red Raiders will wear throwback-inspired uniforms that celebrate the program’s 100th anniversary during their Oct. 11 Homecoming matchup with Kansas.
