Union Home Mortgage announced on Tuesday it has signed a multi-year deal to become the new title sponsor of the Gasparilla Bowl, held annually at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
“We’re thrilled to make this announcement in the dynamic and vibrant Tampa Bay region with an organization that is so aligned with our own values,” Union Home Mortgage president and CEO Bill Cosgrove said in a statement. “Our company takes pride in its local roots and community commitment. With the Krewe of Gasparilla Bowl, we have found a dedicated partner committed to the same level of service and engagement as our partners around the country.”
Union Home Mortgage is a banking company with more than 150 branches in 44 states across the country, as well as Washington D.C. It has won numerous awards for its commitment to inclusivity and ability to deliver personalized service for its customers.
“We are excited to begin this journey with Union Home Mortgage as our two organizations have a very similar approach to how we operate,” Gasparilla Bowl executive director Scott Glaser said. “Leadership at Union Home Mortgage made it very clear that they always strive to create a culture that demonstrates mutual respect for everyone along with a deep desire to be world-class. This is no different than how we attack every day at our bowl. I can’t wait to get started!”
This year’s Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl will be the 13th edition of the game, which was formerly known as the magicJack Bowl (2008), St. Petersburg Bowl Presented by Beef ‘O’ Brady’s (2009), Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl (2010-13), Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl (2014), St. Petersburg Bowl (2015-16) and the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl (2017-19). It was held at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., before moving to Tampa in 2018.
While previous matchups often pitted teams from the American Athletic Conference, Conference USA or Mid-American Conference, the Gasparilla Bowl could now feature teams from the ACC, Big XII, Mountain West, Pac-12 or SEC, as well as Army or BYU.
The date for the 2019 Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl has not been set, though it traditionally takes place during the first week of bowl season and is televised by the ESPN family of networks.
