After playing last season as the Tampa Bay Bandits and rebranding this offseason, the USFL’s Memphis Showboats unveiled new uniforms earlier this week.
The Showboats, who were scarlet and silver during their original run from 1984-85, now have a navy blue and gold color palette, as well as two new logos. That includes a modernized boat as their primary logo, as well as a stylized “M” with smokestacks as their secondary mark.
Memphis is actually the first team to incorporate its secondary logo on their uniforms, as it appears on the sleeve of the navy blue home and white road jerseys, though the contrasting shoulder yoke is similar to the Pittsburgh Maulers’ design.
The navy blue helmet has a gold facemask and truncated gold stripe down the center, as well as the primary logo on both sides, while the white pants – which will be worn with both the home and road jerseys – have a solid gold stripe down both sides.
The uniforms will make their on-field debut when the Showboats host the Philadelphia Stars on April 15 at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium, which is one of the four hubs the USFL spring. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m ET on FOX, making it the first game of the season.
