The Utah Jazz this afternoon announced the return of their purple mountain jerseys, to be worn as a “Classic” uniform during the upcoming 2019-20 NBA season.
Originally worn from 1996/97 until 2003/04, the Jazz took their sublimated gradient mountain look to the franchise’s only two trips to the NBA Finals, back-to-back losses to the Michael Jordan led Chicago Bulls in 1997 and 1998.
The uniform has a purple base and features a mountain with white peaks (shadowed in light blue) which transitions into the purple base via a white-to-purple gradient from top to bottom. Across the mountain peaks is the team’s wordmark logo of the era, “JAZZ” in purple and blue with white and bronze trim, a black drop shadow, and then an additional trim in teal around that. The “JAZZ” wordmark also incorporates a mountain range design.

On the shorts are the team’s two alternate logos of the era, a stylized “UJ” on the leg and a snowflake on the waistband.
Completing the retro look, the Jazz will also be bringing back the classic home court design the club used originally during this era.
“The classic primary logo sits prominently at midcourt and the key is filled with teal. Purple is accented in the free throw circle. The baseline features the snowflake basketball logo flanked by “UTAH JAZZ” lettering in a western motif.” – Utah Jazz
