Washington Huskies To Celebrate 1991 National Championship With Throwback Uniforms

The Washington football program announced on Tuesday it will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its 1991 national championship by wearing throwback uniforms at some point this season.

The 1991 Huskies were arguably the best team in school history, splitting the national title with Miami (Fla.) after knocking off Michigan in the Rose Bowl to finish the year at 12-0.

The uniforms are true to that season, with single-color block numerals and two white stripes on the sleeves of the purple jerseys, as well as a brighter shade of gold on the pants.

There’s a new addition to the uniforms, however, as the Huskies’ “Panting Dawg” logo replaces the traditional Block “W” on the sides of the helmet and on the right hip of the pants.

As mentioned, it’s unclear when Washington will wear the throwback uniform. The Huskies have seven home games this season, though, including a date with rival Washington State in late November.
