The Washington Huskies unveiled subtle changes to their football uniforms on Wednesday evening, updating their previous design with some classic elements.
The uniforms, which are on adidas’ latest template and feature the manufacturer’s new logo, aren’t a significant departure from what the Huskies have worn since the 2019 season.
The sleeve stripes remain the same on the purple home and white road jerseys, which were inspired by the 1991 national championship team that beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl to finish 12-0.
However, Washington has leaned even further into the throwback design with this update, replacing the gold-outlined numbers with solid white numerals on the purple home jersey.
The white road jerseys, meanwhile, no longer have a white stroke around the solid purple numbers, which largely went unnoticed but made the numerals appear much thinner than they are now.
The most notable change is on the pants, which were one solid color but now feature tapered stripes down the sides. The gold pants have purple and white stripes, while the purple and white pants match the sleeve stripes on their corresponding jerseys.
The bolder numbers and tapered stripes will also be reflected on the home version of Washington’s “Husky Royalty” uniform, which we uncovered back in January but has not been unveiled by the program.
Washington’s updated uniforms will make their on-field debut when the Huskies host Boise State on Sept. 2. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
