WHL’s Kelowna Rockets Break Out 2000s Throwbacks for Fan Appreciation Night

After finishing last in the Western Hockey League’s Western Conference and missing the playoffs, the Kelowna Rockets broke out something special to show their fans how much they appreciated their support this year.

For their final home game of the 2024-25 season on Saturday, March 22, the Rockets donned special throwback jerseys that harkened back to what the team wore for three seasons in the mid-2000s, when the team featured future NHLers like Luke Schenn, Tyler Myers and Alex Edler.

The jerseys were mostly teal, with “KELOWNA” spelled out diagonally in a serifed italic font down the front. The letters have a thin teal outline, with a thick black outline outside that. The shoulder yoke was mostly black, with white and red stripes at the edges and the team’s alternate logo on each shoulder.

The waist and sleeves had red and white stripes with a narrow gold stripe in between. The areas below the white stripe were solid black. Names on the back were white with black outlines, while the numbers on the sleeves and back were white with teal and black outlines.

Rockets fans had the chance to win game-worn jerseys by entering a draw that has been collecting entries all season long.

Saturday’s jerseys did have a few differences from what the Rockets wore in the 2000s (seen below). The letters on the front had no red outline, and the number and name fonts were slightly different.

Despite those differences, though, the jerseys did the trick as the Rockets beat the Kamloops Blazers 4-3 and sent their fans home happy.
