UPDATE: This post has been updated to include a potential leaked graphic of the new uniform, seen above. The photo was tweeted to me, I cannot locate the original source of the photo, if you know it let me know so I can credit proper, for now it’s Twitter/@danbrYnk. Take this one with a grain of salt, but it certainly seems plausible.
Note the “NY” logo from the old alternate jersey, and barebones black and white design on the jersey (four stripes on each arm for four Stanley Cups, right?).
Original post follows…
The New York Islanders will unveil a new black and white alternate uniform on September 21st, this according to numerous sources.
As pointed out by Brian Erni at SNY.tv, Islanders team billboards and video ticket ads so far this season are featuring black and white imagery and Brooklyn themed graphics, the “NY” logo from their primary mark (and also worn as the main logo on their Stadium Series/alternate uniforms the past two years) is the most prominent graphic in these ads.
There is no one, definitive clear shot of these new graphics, however we were able to put together this image of their ad campaign by piecing together several screencaps.
After over 40 seasons in Uniondale, the Islanders have moved west to Brooklyn, earlier this decade the New Jersey Nets of the NBA shifted to Brooklyn, renamed themselves the Brooklyn Nets and also switched to a black and white colour scheme. Islanders ownership has stated in the past they have no intention of changing their name from New York to Brooklyn.
